Jamie L. Giovanetto

Jamie started his consultancy firm, J. Giovanetto Incorporated, in January 2000 and brings a long career in IT (starting in 1968) and high technology to his customers, which allows him look at their environments from many perspectives.  This breadth of experience spans both hardware and software, virtually eliminating the 'It's hardware' or 'It's software' arguments, and allows looking beyond the physical hardware and software to look to the entire IT environment when analyzing a customer site. 

• Consultant

Provides analysis and solutions to maximize the operation of customers' Oracle StorageTek® mainframe tape environments.  Can also provide assistance with professional development topics.

• Management

Provided product management for Oracle's StorageTek Library Content Manager® for over 15 years.  Was a Service Business Manager at StorageTek® specializing in software products and a member of the management team at the SHARE technical conferences for over 20 years.  The latter included over 10+ years of running SHARE's professional development project.

• Software Background

Have worked with the Library Content Manager® product for over two decades, directing and providing primary support for over 15 years.  Previously a Software Support Representative for StorageTek® supporting all products.  IT career started as a Programmer/Analyst in 1968.

• Hardware Background

Was both a Field Technical Specialist (U.S.) and an International Technical Support Representative for StorageTek®, working with the StorageTek® tape environment since 1979.  Additional broad hi-tech experience while serving in the Navy including supervising a Cryptographic Repair Facility.

• Educational Background

Have delivered hundreds of training sessions on a wide range of topics, ranging from adhoc sessions to multiple week structured classes, and from one-on-one sessions to audiences of several hundred.  Delivery has been in person, by phone conference, webinar and telecast to audiences domestically and internationally.  Holds a degree in Occupational Education (Workforce Education Development) from Southern Illinois University and was named one of the first Master Naval Training Specialists while an instructor in the U.S. Navy.

• Other Background

While it is obvious that Jamie has an extensive IT background in core fields, he has been busy with many other volunteer activities.

A member of the SHARE User Group's management team for over 20 years, Jamie served in numerous roles.  Member of numerpous projects, a Support Manager on the Senior Management Team, member of Nomination Commitees and manager of two projects.  Of these, his favorite was as Manager of Professional Development where the function was to assist IT professionals in the personal and professional skills necessary to take their careers beyond simple technical expertise.

Jamie has also been active within his church.  Currently the Vice-President of a Congregation (following six terms as President), he was also a member of the Synod's Nominating Committee which nominates all national offices and related university board members.  Jamie has served as the Congregational representative to the Circuit conferences and the Circuit representative to both District and Synodical conventions.
